About GoTrails

How does the go / no-go work?

For each trail, GoTrails reads the 7-day forecast at the trailhead and at the high point (temperature, rain, storms, snow, wind, heat, air quality, UV and daylight) and turns it into go, go with care or not recommended, with a suggested start time.

Where does the trail data come from?

From OpenStreetMap contributors and official sources such as the National Park Service, USDA Forest Service, USGS and the Bureau of Land Management, plus routes GoTrails members record and share. Elevation, shade and the places along each trail come from open datasets.
